Indeed I’m reviewing the game that was forced upon me for the Secret Satan "gift" exchange. For those of you responsible for sending this to me, I wish bad things for you. Bad things of the bubbly female teenage type.

I apologize for really taking my time with this title, but I didn’t really feel motivated. I’ve finally played it, and thank goodness this game doesn’t take many hours to play. It’s basically a Mario Party ripoff, with up to four players moving around a game board and the occasional minigame where the players have to duke it out.

Infiltrating the Tweezer Cell

Damn. I’ve got to stop eating Mexican before covert missions.

It’s been a year and a half since I last picked up Splinter Cell. Poor Sam had been crouching in that oil rig pipe for a long time.

Jam me thumb up his butthole
Crikey! We’ve found a rare Mercenarius Americanus! Gorgeous! Now watch as I jam me thumb up his butthole.

Now that I’ve gotten my WoW character mostly caught up with everyone else, it’s time to knock some Winter Games off my list. Even though I’m very close to the end of Grim Fandango, I’m in no big rush to finish it. I could probably knock it out in a night, but it’s easy to play it for short bursts so I’ll spread it out and instead devote the large chunks of time to the titles that demand them. Moving down the list, the one I’ve invested the most time with so far is Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and so last night I returned to the soft-soled shoes of everybody’s favorite techno-ninja for the first time in nearly 7 months.

“Worn out on World of Warcraft Wednesdays”

For those of you with loved ones afflicted with this disease, there is a place you can turn to for help.

Red Menace: Eliminated

Posted by Ruckus on Wednesday, January 25, 2006

The first of my Winter Games ‘06 ate the bomb last night. After a month of regular distractions I finally defeated those uppity Russians on Ghost Recon. The completion of a three year old game isn’t exactly worthy of a gala celebration, but at least it’s one more loose end tied up. I’m going to make a confession now and tell you that I’ve never actually completed a Tom Clancy game before this, despite the fact that I’ve started at least four (Ghost Recon, the first and second Rainbow 6 games, and Splinter Cell). I run out of patience for the realistic tactical considerations and begin to long for crazy rocket launcher combat.

Other progress has been made as well. World of Warcraft continues on at pace, and I’m still enjoying Dragon Quest 8. It’s harder than I expected it to be, actually. I don’t know if I’m rushing through the game and encountering monsters beyond my experience level or if the game is just harder than its predecessors but I’ve never died so much playing an RPG. I think this one is going to take some patience. For example, one of my characters is so useless at this point in the game (level 12 or so) that if she’s ever going to contribute she’s going to have gain a lot of levels. Look for this one to keep reappearing over a long time.

Catch you next week.

Denalan’s Winter Games 2006 Update: Month One

Posted by Denalan on Tuesday, January 24, 2006

We’re about a month into Winter Games 2006 and I wanted to post a quick update on my progress on the games. Unfortunately I haven’t made a whole lot of progress overall; my purchase of the gaming PC has slowed me down a bit.

That’s not to say I haven’t made any progress at all! I’ve now reached level 53 in World of Warcraft, only 5 levels away from my goal of level 58+. I’m finding making progress in the game is really easier than expected, unbelievably. Even though it takes much more work and experience points to get to the next level, there is enough content at the high levels that it just playing the game regularly allows leveling while keeping things interesting.

I really want to check out Stubbs the Zombie, and I have a copy of the game for the Mac. However, since my Mac is a bit outdated at this point (and doesn’t *quite* meet the system requirements to run the game), I’d like to play it on the new PC gaming machine. I may borrow a copy of the PC version to play it in all of its glory. Stay tuned.
