This Damn Controller!

This just in “gnaw gnaw gnaw…”
Microsoft has released a list of 213 Xbox games that will be compatible with the Xbox 360 at launch time. Check the list here to see if you qualify. These games will require a software emulator which means you’ll need the hard drive. More titles are expected to be added in the future via Xbox Live, but for now you Splinter Cell fans better hold on to your Xbox 1’s
That is all for now. Good night and good chuck.

Dear Ubisoft,
Thanks for the map, assholes. Next time, give me something I can actually use. Geraldo Rivera makes better maps than this with his finger in the sand.

The shape of things to come?
Although I’m not advocating checking out the competition, everyone should really take a look at this video review from IGN about Kameo: Elements of Power. I tried to find a video that didn’t involve the extraneous reviewer commentary, but the footage straight from Rare didn’t carry a believability with it…it just looked too polished. Hell, you can even mute it if you want to. What you should pay special attention to is in the second half when Kameo is fighting the trolls. Will you just look at the number of enemies on the screen simultaneously? Check out the draw distance! Everything fighting…one enormous melee.
If this is what we can expect to see on the console, then sign me up. Can you imagine Dynasty Warriors on the Xbox360? How about the Lord of the Rings games redux? The future is bright.
Smiles everyone
Power-leveling, is it a menace, annoyance, reasonable tool for busy people or just an inconsequential sidebar in the history of online RPGs? We can often can tell the people who have used it- but what about the ones DOING it? Who are these “master players” who churn out what some consider to be fraudulent characters by the dozens?
To begin with - this topic really encompasses two separate issues: People who purchase characters ready made, and Services that provide more simplified service like buying virtual currency/ items. True, most outfits that offer one offer the other - but its the power-leveling piece that I’m interested in. As far as people buying online currency, I see it as the lesser of two evils (with a similar, if less obvious, unfortunate end result of community members who have no idea what’s going on).
I’m sure everyone here saw this months ago, but some of us who happen to work alone miss out on these internet goodies unless they’re linked from a porn site.
After reading Jeff’s review of F.E.A.R. I breathed a sigh of relief knowing that when I was faced with the choice of F.E.A.R. or Call of Duty 2, I made the right call and went with the proven franchise. Given the recent blitz of WWII shooters hitting the market (Ha! “Blitz”!), it impresses me that people have the stamina to continue developing and playing WWII shooters. The upside to this constant barrage, however, is that each iteration of such games refines and improves the model, and CoD2 is no exception.

Peter Gabriel’s game Eve could be on my Winter Games 2005 list–if the old game will run on my machine
Winter Games 2005 is just around the corner! Woohooo! Note that we’ll be doing the gaming in the winter, whereas in years past we mainly had the gaming during the summer months. This works out much better for those of us who like getting out of the house—and this Chicagoan certainly appreciates it.
I’ve been hard at work (if you can call it that) selecting the games I’ll be committing to playing and completing this season. But I’ve been having trouble selecting games because I’ve completed all of the games I own.
