Weekend Errands

It was the end of a long week. I was ready to kick back, crack open one of Miluakee’s finest, and watch some pigskin on the tube, when I realized we were out of beer. And since I’m going out anyway, my girlfriend tells me I’ve got to go grocery shopping. She knew I was only going to pick up liquor and pork rinds, so she made me go over the list with her.

I loaded myself into the grocery-getter and hit the road.

Since the old lady usually does this kind of thing, I wasn’t too sure where I was going. Luckily, this nice gentleman was kind enough to point me in the right direction.

When I arrived, I have to say I didn’t find the store’s selection or presentation much to my liking.

I couldn’t find what I needed, but I did pick up the steak for dinner. Our dog Sport loves gnawing on the T-Bones.

On my way to the next store, I ran into this guy Bob that I work with. Bob was on his way to his weekly paintball throwdown. We made plans to get together for lunch the next week.

I stopped off at a little convenience store to pick up the rest of the stuff.

By now I was pretty thirsty, so I cracked open a beer in the parking lot. I mean, it’s just one beer, right? What could happen?

Thngs weren’t looking too good, because the bridge over the river on the Old County Road had been washed out during a late Spring gullywasher. I did the best I could…

…but it didn’t end well.

So I hitchiked the rest of the way home. The grocery-getter was totalled, and I lost the stuff I bought in the crash. I missed the football game too. My girlfriend was not happy.

Snowball Fight

So this is more of a question. Does anyone remember a game that made the rounds on the web about 4 years ago, where you had a team of 3 little child-munchkins dressed in blue, and the objective was to toss snowballs at another team of child-munchkins in green? When they beat your sorry ass, they’d laugh in this cute way that let you know they spent their free time sharpening knives.

Anyway, does anyone know where to find this now? Apparently my mad web skillz aren’t enough.

So tired…

I have no gaming news. None whatsoever. Why? It goes like this:

I get up in the morning at 6am. I go to the gym. I go to work. I come home, slam down a quick dinner, set up microphones/editing station. I work on music all night long. Maybe I look at my mail. I go to bed. I do it all over again. Truth be told, I knew if I didn’t finish a game by July I was going to be sunk. Man the lifeboats, my friends. I’m drowning in a sea of audio files. Pretty sounding audio files though…

No Games, Plenty of Rock

So phase 2 of my personal Summer Games began last weekend. While Jeff was laying the smackdown on Gran Turismo’s less-than-candy-ass, I was holed up in a rehearsal space/studio/small Harvard Sq. bar.

The tally for the weekend:

6 songs worth of drum and bass (as opposed to “drum ‘n’ bass”) tracked
2 national historical sites visited
1 engineer from Nashville safely brought up and returned
1 successful debut show completed
10 hours worth of in-studio video shot for later posting on the band website

All in all, a very satisfying weekend. The lack of gaming will continue for me, as my computer time will now be spent moving little bits of drum tracks around.

Gameless

There’s a surprising dearth of entries on the old bomb list. I thought I’d throw in an update.

Plenty of gaming action over the weekend, as Tim, Jeff, and I tackled Ghost Recon missions a-plenty. Jeff captured some tremendous screenshots, which I’m sure he’ll be sharing soon. Tim actually hauled his PC over to Jeff’s place so as to smooth the team communication for more efficient Russian smoking. That, my friends, is committment.

On the GT3 front, another nailbiting endurance race was polished off. 2 full hours of beating the crap out of the competition in Rome. The big challenge was handing off the controller in trade for the newest copy of Macworld every half-hour. I think the next closest finisher was 6 laps behind. A burning question was answered as Jeff managed to smack head on into one of the other competitors and force them into the pits. Strategery. Next time, we bust it old school and bring our old Camaro out of the garage.

Right now, and at least until next Tuesday, the only thing that’s chowing dynamite is my guitar…

Russians: 246, Jeff and Will: 0

It was a sad evening of Ghost Recon gaming at the Seamster household. We took on the Russians, and they made us their bitches. There were Russians on the bridge, Russians in the hills, Russians in the tanks. Much like real life, the UN wasn’t any help. While Jeff and I were out trying to stave off the onslaught, they’d go and get themselves killed.

Terribly frustrating.

On the upside, we were playing networked Recon between a Mac and a PC. Only small consolation for being killed over, and over, and over again.

Success!

My day-off goal has been met. The Human Campaign of Warcraft III is now but a memory…again. Poor Prince Arthas. Now you’re all pale and bitter. The upside is that I get to listen to the Undead background music for the next little while.

I have to say that thus far, I’ve been tempted more than once to go for the cheat codes. Especially as Tim has advanced beyond where I left off. I’m a-gainin’ on you though, buddy. Watch your cornhole…

Red Sox Consume Explosive; Innocent Fan is Kept From His Games

I wanted to be playing Warcraft, but I paid for these tickets. So my cousin and I sat through 8 1/2 painful innings of baseball. The Sox tied it in the bottom of the ninth, then fell behind in the 10th. They tied it up again, only to eat Jim Edmonds 340 ft., 3 run bomb in the top of the 12th.

My friends, it was as if I was slowly being digested by a snake. Can somebody get on a game design like that? No? Well then it’s back to the Warcraft tomorrow. My day off. I’m expecting fast progress.
