Don't give in to a world populated primarily by chumps and foons whose never-ending story refers only to the monthly bills to play a game they've already bought. Come back to the welcoming embrace of Kratos as he crushes your spine, rips off your head, then burns your house to the ground along with your wife, children, and extended family.

I can't stand by and let Dan get the WoW DP from Jeff and Mike

Tag!

I know there's a part of Mike and Jeff that wishes they'd never opened the WoW Pandora's Box. As entertaining as it can be at times, it's also the most addictive time suck there is. It's like taking an already addictive open and random world such as GTA 3, adding the further addiction of character development and role playing and then topping it off with an addictive dose of an IM chat room.

Did I mention that it never ends and is constantly updating? With a normal game you never feel like something might be going on that you'll miss while you're away . I can wait until next year and still feed it 100% of the bomb. I can put it on the shelf and it becomes an inanimate object again. It doesn't glow and throb with the potential for missed opportunities.

Face it fellas, WoW isn't a game; it's a cult and a lifestyle. Next thing I know you'll be knocking on my door wearing white short sleeved collared shirts and black ties trying to sell me a subscription out of your backpack. Then Grandfather Winter will tell everyone to get neutered, dress in sweatpants with bags on their heads, and eat his "special figgy pudding" so they can hitch a ride on the next comet out of town.

I say "fie" to that!

Oh man, a double team. Back me up here, Tim.

Ok, here's the mental roadblock that won't let me subscribe to World of Warcraft. For the Xbox alone, I have completed the single player portion of only about 20% of the games I own. For the PC, that number drops down to somewhere around the 15% mark. In fact, I held off on getting a current-gen console for years precisely because of the number of PC games I have that I haven't finished or, in some cases, even played yet. I finally broke down and went for a console because when I'd let Beth play games on my PC, I wanted to still be able to play something and my laptop (which was never that great for games in the first place) had recently died...enter the Xbox.

This isn't even factoring in multiplayer. I've played a few games of Halo2 on Live, and before I knew it I'd lost several hours on a busy weeknight. It is really that good and I can't wait to set some games up with you guys. With nothing more than the collection that I have right now, if I were to have all the time in the world and no concerns about going out and earning money or staying in shape (ok, getting back in shape), I could easily spend the next 2 years gaming without ever stumbling onto the same content twice.

I've got to draw the line somewhere, and that line is at services where I have to pay somebody to distract me from the rest of my collection.

It's bad enough that the PSP is whispering in my ear, "I can go places others can't, and show you movies, tooooooo".

Admittedly I was mostly bent out of shape last night because I get to play WoW once a week on average. I'm going to have to make up for last night's experience with a redo over the weekend. Now go buy the game, Dan. Buy them all.

What's this? World of Warcraft is no longer fun?

That's a shame, because I was finally ready to go out and get it. Thank you for encouraging me to stand my ground after so many months of trying to wear me down.

Now tell me about all of the crippling flaws in the PS2, Katamari Damacy, and God of War.

My wallet will appreciate it.
