A Proposal

So many games, so little time…

I have a Summer 2005 proposal. It’s a sort of Secret Santa if Santa was evil and liked to force kids to play bad games.

We all put our names in a hat and each pick one out. Then we go out and buy the strangest, most obscure, most terrifying game we can find in the dank and dusty bargain bin of the local liquidation store and give it to that person. We all have to attempt to finish our selected games as best we can. Then each week a different person will post a report on EMB and tell us how horrible (or surprisingly fun) their game was. Of course, we’ll have to swap console / OS information and we should probably shy away from DOS games as getting them to work in XP will ultimately be more terrifying than the games themselves.

So whaddya think? Who’s man enough to truly waste their time?

As a huge fan of bad movie marathons and frequent requestor for the oldest donut in the store at Dunks, I’m all for it. Perhaps there can be a F Brands t-shirt award for worst game discovered?

Sure, why not. I’m always up for torment and humiliation. I’m looking at a PC and a PS2. I could probably manage a Mac as well, but I feel like the really shitty titles will be PC.

I’ll bite. Are there any restrictions or is some lucky individual going to be saddled with a 40+ hour turd of an RPG?

I’m working a PC and Xbox right now, but I’m sure I could be convinced to dig out the Super NES

That depends on how much you hate your fellow man. If you’re entertained by the thought of Jeff spending day after day trying to save up for that little black dress to wear on his date with Ken, by all means, buy that copy of “World of Warcraft: Deluxe edition with Barbie Mod”. Personally, I’m gunning for something short but painfully humiliating, like “Parasite Busters: Journey to the Cloaca”.

That’s five, we need at least one more.

AS for RPGs, I think the gamer can make a fair assessment as to when they’ve put in enough time. When we trade names, we’ll put our system and console info in as well.

I’m thinking we’ll start this after Mr. Schooly-School is done with the semester. Hopefully, WoW will have worn off by then…
