shit!
That’s exactly what I just did, in my pants, in the first ten minutes of Doom 3. I’d say more, but I have to go curl up in bed with something furry with all the lights on.

Yahoo, the first Doom 3 screenshot! I think I hear something scratching at your window.
Nevermind, it’s just Brad.

Brad’s saying “I understand how frustrated you feel, and I’m sorry you have been inconvenienced by my trying to kill you”

In case anyone reads the old comment strings, I wanted to post an update on Doom3. Call me a chicken, but Doom3 is the first game that I have problems playing because it sets me on edge. I get so worked up anticipating traps and ambushes that I can only play the game for short intervals during the day, otherwise I get the shakes and can’t sleep. Last night I was watching TV in my living room when the lightbulb blew out, leaving me in the dark. I swear to you my heart started to pound and I started to panic because I didn’t have a shotgun handy.
Full marks to id for creating a nightmare you can play.

Are you playing this on a PC or console. Is it worth purchasing for a console? Any thoughts? Or do I have to break down and buy the Awesom-O 4000 gaming machine?

I’m playing it on a PC with a 2.8 GHZ P4, an ATI Radeon 9600 (which I’m pretty sure is a 128 Mb card), and 2 gigs of RAM (yeah it’s excessive, so I’ll just invoke the Chewbacca defense). It’s a little laggy when demons rift in (it’s a spectacular light show) but I set it to maximum graphics quality just to test it out. It still looks great at lower levels, though.
I can’t speak to the console version as none of my XBox owning friends enjoy the colon cleansing experience of being hunted by demons. (See the previous thread re: multiple console owners.)
