The two sided display at Best Buy had 3 copies left at 10:30AM and Electronics Boutique had a long line which quickly left as soon as they announced "if you don't have a Doom 3 pre-order, we're sold out" I also overheard an interesting debate over Doom 3 and how they thought it was silly after Halo to have a corridor-based shooter (i.e. small maps and confined spaces versus larger outdoor maps.) Do you think the horror genre works without the claustrophobia? I think not. There's a big difference between running from a beast in a tight hallway and running away on a beach, jumping into your jeep, and driving to the other side of the island. Of course, that's not why they focused on small rooms and corridors. The snazzy lighting effects are why. That swinging flouresent light doesn't do much outdoors...
