Games for Katie and I

Posted by Denalan on Thursday, July 22, 2004

My girlfriend Katie and I are looking for computer games that we can play together. Previously we were playing Warcraft III, but that’s gotten a little old. We briefly played Neverwinter Nights, but playing it offline is annoying (only one person from your group gets a reward when you finish a level), and playing online with 13-year-olds is tiresome.

Katie tends to like the third-person games, preferably without too much violence. I like games which can be used on the Mac. :P

Does anyone have recommendations for games we could play? Perhaps there are a few games that you guys have been playing with your significant others?

If you mean 2 player co-op games then try Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance. It’s good hack n’ slash fun. My wife and I killed that game. It may be violent, but it’s CARTOON violence!

I also recommend finding a Secret of Mana SNES emulation for 2 or 3 player co-op, Zelda-style fun.

Other than that, my wife and I enjoy playing adventure games together even though they’re technically one player. Grim Fandango, Sam and Max, etc.

If you’re playing strictly online games together, I’m hard pressed to think of non violent, 3rd person games. Beyond Good and Evil was a great, non-violent 3rd person game, but you’d have to take turns…

I’d also like to throw in a vote for the adventure games. It means you get to sit real close to each other and take turns driving. Having two minds work together on these makes them go faster and lots of fun.

If you’re looking for something short and sweet, try Airburst!

I’m still working on compiling my list of games available for lending. Hopefully this will present some more options. Having a girlfriend is rad.
