F Schoolwork
It’s the first day of May. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and I’m stuck inside working on finals. Needless to say, this is cutting the gaming time down to nothing. Or is it?…

I wish I could say this is Photoshopped
Before the schoolmonster attacked, I started playing Anachronox. It’s a futuristic RPG with turn-based combat. The graphics are pretty nice for being released in 2001 and the depth to this game is staggering. This isn’t surprising considering it’s from Ion Storm who gave us Deus Ex.
So far I’ve found the following: an oracle who would only give me information in exchange for a chewy sock, 4 cycloptic musicians, a ferriplasty clinic, and of course a clown.
All I can tell at this point is that there’s something evil trying to take over the universe and I, with the help of my running crew, need to stop it. Clever plot, eh? Seriously, there’s more going on in this game than you’re willing to read so I’ll break it up into smaller chunks.
Next up, Thrill Kill. You may have heard of this ultra-violent fighting game featuring 4-player combat and elaborate finishing sequences similar to those of Mortal Kombat. It was due to be released shortly after the Columbine shootings occurred and Virgin Interactive cancelled the game and put it in the vault. That is, after the developers dumped the finished game onto the internet. I’ve had this thing sitting around since I was at Berklee and hadn’t since been able to find a decent Playstation emulator since Virtual Gamestation for MacOS 8. Enter epsxe, Playstation emulator extraordinaire. It’s free, it works, it lets me play Thrill Kill. Enough, on with the screenshots:
