And another thing…

It’s time I updated my video card from a Voodoo 2 BlackMagic 3D to something made in this decade. I need either an ATI Radeon (7200-9800) or something in the NVIDIA Geforce family (models 2-FX) to run “Beyond Good and Evil” on my PC. Any suggestions for a good bang for your buck video card?

Tim,
I need to do some serious research about the latest video cards before making the Phase 3 purchase for the gaming rig. I’ll share whatever knowledge I gain during the process. One rule of thumb is NEVER buy the latest video card. The manufacturers put them out there to see how many suckers they can reel in for a 3% performance gain. And they typically cost twice as much as the last generation video card which will undoubtedly get the job done.

I ended up getting an ATI Radeon 9600SE for $99 at Best Buy. It was a MAJOR pain in the ass to get it working, but it renders fast and looks great. I still can’t run Beyond Good and Evil at the highest performance settings though, which is annoying. Then again, my computer is two years old…
