What’s your vector, Victor?

I’ve had it. I can’t play with the computer any longer. My best guess is that as a result of budget cuts at EA, the programmers of Battlefield: Vietnam were forced to use the artificial intelligence engine from Pac Man. The enemy in this game will stand right in front of you with this blank expression like “Do you know where the nearest ATM is?” At first, I suspected that the enemy was putting up extremely realistic dummies with explosives rigged to their wallets. Nope, they’re just plain stupid. And while I welcome the uninterrupted helicopter practice, it’s getting pretty damned boring. Ballgame, do you copy?

Hey, don’t knock the Pac-Man ghost AI. Sometimes they would follow you into the tunnel!

“Follow you into the tunnel” I don’t remember any tunnel. With a little psychology I might make a wise guy comment but since this is my first post I’ll lay back awhile.

Anyhoo…as for Battlefield 1942 (Battlefield Vietnam version), the AI is a little weak. That is why I have traditionally played online against what I assume are thinking, sentient beings somewhere on the globe (most likely Korea). I enjoy spraying their guts across the screen far more than a cyber phantasm with questionnable sense when it comes to getting out from under the rain of bullets from the auto cannon mounted to the front of my A7 Corsair fighterjet.

Love it!

When I play 2D, 16 bit games I often like visualize the more complex environments that the simple graphics are attempting to represent. I call it my “imagination”. In this case, I “imagined” that the gaps in the walls on either side of the Pac-Man “building” were “tunnels”.

As for any Freudian attachments to entering or exiting said “tunnel”, my “imagination” don’t go there, girlfriend.

As for bad AI, isn’t ridiculous when a recent FPS has worse AI then Doom or Quake did?
