So, my wife comes back from an 8-week trip to Boston this weekend and I have eagerly been anticipating showing her the new big screener and the new PS2 with all the wicked graphics and intenste gameplay. So, I boot it up, show her Madden
2003, Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, and GTA III and these are the first words that come out of her mouth: “That’s neat and everything but can you play Tetris on it?” As I pointed the shotgun at my skull, I then reconsidered and thought that yes, even old school, non-graphics intensive games could be enjoyed as well on the PS2. So, off to Electronics Boutique this afternoon to purchase TetrisWorlds and Activision Anthology.

P.S. If anybody here plays Madden 2003, can you please tell me how the @!&#? to play defense. I’m 1-5 on the season: my starting quarterback is out for the season, and my #1 wide receiver is out for 6 weeks (both with broken legs).

Wow, Madden Defense!! This is the greatest challenge of all. I don’t have a lot of advice other than it seems to me that defense is all about play calling and audibles. My general rules of thumb, and I am not an expert.

1. Never pick your defense until the offense picks their play.

2. Know your audibles and use them.

3. Use the L2 button to look at how your defense is setup and be ready for the mismatches.

4. Do the defense practice in Madden camp. It is boring, but it helps.

In general, from what I have read online, everyone struggles a bit on defense, but hang in there.

PS — I think with football season coming up, it may be time for a whole Madden thread for this site. What do you think Jeff?

I can add a new category for Madden if there’s enough interest. Also, if Ryan will commit, I’ll plunk down the cash for Madden and the network adapter. Whaddya say, Ryan?

With online play you can set up your own league (room) with password. Perhaps we need an Eatmybomb league. Remember, you may need Madden 2004 to play online now that it came out last week. I will check tonight to see if 2003 is still online.

Wow, thanks for the insult, good buddy! No I never was very good at sports. I was too busy starting Christmas tree fires. Did bowling count as a sport?
