We were just talking about Brixtone's red-ring-of-death on his Xbox 360 today. It's a good thing Microsoft extended the warranty for 3 years total; apparently it's estimated that the machines have about a <a href="http://gamepolitics.com/2007/07/06/xbox-360-failure-rate-do-the-math/" rel="nofollow">33% failure rate</a>.
