Victory: Six Years in the Making

A quality boss battle will always leave you with one hit point left.
Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force has swallowed a bomb pill this morning. It ended in a classic boss battle pitting Munro against an army of enemies in numbers I haven’t seen since the arena in Fable. I then had to defeat a hideous beast who would stop at nothing to destroy the universe. No tricks, no secret soft spot to wait for; just good old fashioned dodging and unloading!
I started playing this game on my Father-In-Law’s computer during Christmas break in 2000. I was mostly playing the bot matches but eventually got hooked on the single player. We had to go back to New Jersey before I could finish the game. Years later I rescued it from a box of old games in the garage and started playing the single player mission again only to get distracted and abandon it quickly. Finally, last Christmas I brought the game with me to PA to pass some time on my laptop (sorry Jeff, I know I should’ve been playing Fallout…) and have at last completed it. I kept getting deja vu and remembering things from my first time through the game. I didn’t realize how far I’d gotten before and was starting to wonder if I’d actually already beaten the game. I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen that worm thing boss before…
Two down a dozen to go! I’ve had no work since the holidays so I’ve had some time to jump on a few of these. I’ll probably tackle Splinter Cell next. Start polishing that trophy, cause this year I’m going to beat your asses!
